How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
I love writing and reading romances. I like sitting down and escaping for a couple of hours and really do enjoy happy endings – there are far too many ‘real’ stresses in life, so I like to finish a book with a smile on my face – one of the best rewards.
Writing my own books gives me the opportunity to build relationships and scenarios that I would root for and that I genuinely want to work. I get pleasure from letting ‘characters’ float around in my mind until I find some that match up!
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Find a genre which inspires and interests you first. Think about the books you like to read, this will help you choose. Write because you love to, not because you think you are going to be rich! 😉
Ceri Bladen was born 1970 in Caerleon, Wales. She moved to Swansea when she trained to become a Primary Teacher. After meeting her husband there, Ceri ended up staying for many years, teaching in various Primary schools around Swansea. After a set of twins and another, seventeen months later, Ceri gave up teaching to become a full time Mum. Wanting to spend more time as a family unit, Ceri and her family moved to Turkey, where they now live.
Ceri wrote her first book ‘Copper’, a historical romance, based on Swansea in the 1950s. The sequel ‘Copper to Red’ is out March 2013, with the final instalment, ‘Red’, following later in the year. Her set of books, starts off with ‘Persona’, a contemporary romance which follows the lives of actor, Daniel Spittle and Ella Hender, a journalist, who has to write an article on him. Throw a stalker into the mix, and things get a little bumpy…
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I had wanted to write books for a long time, but due to the usual, work and small children, I put it on the back burner.
Loving family life and trying to spend more time as a family, we moved from the UK to Turkey. When the children started full time school, it gave me the opportunity to pursue writing the books that had been floating around in my mind for years!
