They were never supposed to be, but fate is a funny thing…
Charmaine Princeton takes pride in his work, even if some people treat him like he is on the bottom wrung of everything.
Enter a new customer, the stunning Ella Cinders who is looking for her missing pair of perfect shoes – glass slippers picked out for a ball.
Charmaine knows she is out of his reach, especially when he finds out just how opposite her position in the world is from his, but as he embarks on a mission to find her missing shoe order, he discovers feelings he has never had before.
Fate intervenes when, on the eve of the ball, Charmaine finds her shoes and must rush them to her in time for her to make the impression she is dreaming of.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
It started out as a short story for a modern-day fairytale anthology. I liked it so much that I decided to make it into a book and publish it. As I thought about the story I wanted to be unique with it and that's when I thought… let's make the man be the pauper and the woman be the princess.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
I fashioned the characters from the original Cinderella tale… only the roles were reversed. I decided to give them fun names that were similar to the original but had a modern twist to them. That is how Charmaine Princeton and Ella Cinders were born.
He held his hand out, and she graciously accepted. He pulled her up and helped her to steady herself but held her hand a moment longer before letting her go. He took in a sharp breath as he looked upon the beauty before him. Her honey blonde hair framed her heart shaped face just right as it fell in waves just past her shoulders. She was short and petite, and her curvy, hour-glass body fit snug in the blue sundress she wore. She was breathtaking, and he couldn't take his eyes off of her.
