Set on a beautiful Greek island in the sun, this is a tale of mystery and searching. Ella is looking for someone whose name she does not even know. The islanders are friendly and welcoming, but everyone, it seems, has a secret of their own. The island is paradise, but what secrets does paradise hide under stunning vistas, and overwhelming scents? Can Ella find who she is searching for? Will she find the answers she needs? What else will she find along the way?
A story of Love in all its forms, love of Greece, love between past characters, new love between friends, cats, nature, and of food.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Traveling to Greece to search for my husband's long lost family inspired this book in the first instance, but it soon took on a life of it's own, with the colorful characters developing into an ongoing trilogy. Each book stands complete alone though.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
I started with one woman, but the other characters are either based on Greeks I met in real life, or they just appeared as I wrote and pushed their way, with some force, into the story.
She arrived like a thief in the night. The air was hot, thick and balmy as the taxi driver hauled her cases out of the boot of the cab. She said “efharisto polee” (thank you very much), and handed him a large tip. He gave her a semi-toothless grin, and replied “parakalo” (you’re welcome), before climbing back into the cab and driving away, leaving her alone in the night.
The hotel foyer was deserted, and lit only with dim nightlights. She waited a moment or two to see if anyone emerged, and then called out hesitantly, “Yassas.” (Hello.)
A stocky, dark haired, bearded man emerged from a door somewhere behind reception, looking like he had been awake for at least a week. His eyes were droopy with fatigue, but kind of wired as if caffeine was the only thing keeping him standing, which it probably was. “Yassas Kireeah” (Hello Miss,) he said, trying to sound as welcoming as someone could at four in the morning when all they wanted to do was sleep.
My name is May J. Panayi and I’m 57. I have been a writer since I was a kid. Okay not anything earth shattering; just a poem in the local paper at age five, then a newsletter to the neighborhood age ten. I hobby wrote poems and short stories throughout my teens and early twenties, then various magazine submissions, and a lot of activity in the underground fanzine scene of the eighties; contributing to others as well as producing my own. I started writing books around 2000, and currently have fourteen titles published. I moved onto just writing fiction novels with the occasional short story collection. I became a full time self employed writer in 2014. It's been an interesting journey so far and one I hope will long continue. I write across a variety of genres, my friends call me the eclectic indie. My Sun series, in which there are two novels so far, a third coming this year to complete the trilogy, is my most popular style. It is travel romance/mystery; bit hard to categorize.
