About D. U. Sivri:
I have written many books over the years, primarily Self Help and Personal Development books. Being a Qualified Psychotherapist has helped me to understand the human psyche on a much deeper level.
This in turn has helped me to write about romantic and love related issues and feelings.
A subject that affects us all as we work through our lives and relationships.
What inspires you to write?
Human emotions and the human psyche inspire me to write.
When you work with people every day, you can tune into their emotions and feelings, and you realize that however unique we all are, there are universal feelings and emotions that apply to all of us.
And these are the cornerstones of all powerful pieces of art, culture and literature.
Tell us about your writing process.
I am quite disciplined when it comes to writing, although when I feel more inspired I can write a lot more.
I use my day to day experiences as a sounding board for my inspiration.
Above all though, you need to love what you do, and writing needs to be a passion.
How do you develop your characters?
'Characters' all exist in our minds anyway, so they are constantly with us.
Of course we talk to our characters and relate to them. After all, their personalities come through us, and we are the conduits of communication.
What authors inspire you?
Many authors inspire me, too many to mention in fact. Before I studied Psychology, I studied English Literature for four years at school and college.
So I've read many of the classics and many of the classical writers.
I think being a good writer equates to learning about writing on a much deeper level.
How do you keep going in the midst of distractions?
A distraction is only a distraction if you let it become one.
A day has twenty four hours. You can always find an hour or two to write if you really want to.
And over a week you can definitely find some time.
So try not to make excuses.
What are your hobbies when you need a break from writing?
I love being out in nature, taking my dogs for a walk, drawing and painting, listening to music, and I love cooking, so I create many wonderful dishes.
I used to travel a lot, but not so much nowadays!!
