About Peggy Jaeger:
Peggy Jaeger is a contemporary romance writer who writes Romantic Comedies about strong women, the families who support them, and the men who can’t live without them. If she can make you cry on one page and bring you out of tears rolling with laughter the next, she’s done her job as a writer!
Family and food play huge roles in Peggy’s stories because she believes there is nothing that holds a family structure together like sharing a meal…or two…or ten. Dotted with humor and characters that are as real as they are loving, she brings all topics of daily life into her stories: life, death, sibling rivalry, illness, and the desire for everyone to find their own happily ever after. Growing up the only child of divorced parents she longed for sisters, brothers, and a family that vowed to stick together no matter what came their way. Through her books, she’s created the families she wanted as that lonely child.
When she’s not writing Peggy is usually painting, crafting, scrapbooking, or decoupaging old steamer trunks she finds at rummage stores and garage sales.
As a lifelong diarist, she caught the blogging bug early on, and you can visit her at peggyjaeger.com where she blogs daily about life, writing, and stuff that makes her go "What??!"
What inspires you to write?
There are so many stories in my head, running around on any given day, that if I didn't write them down I don't think I'd ever sleep!
Love inspires me to write every single day. Love of family, of a soul-mate, even of a pet.
Love is the strongest emotion we have in ourselves, and it's the perfect emotion to share.
Tell us about your writing process.
So I have a scientific background because 175 years ago I was a Registered Nurse. because of that background – theory, hypothesis, experimentation, etc – I am a huge plotter. I have in-depth, detailed, character backgrounds, story arcs planned and written out before I ever start typing CHAPTER 1. I do it all longhand and on a program called PLOTTR where I can upload pictures of my characters as I see them. I also make PINtEREST boards for each of my novels.
How do you develop your characters?
I am a master puppeteer so my characters don't say anything I don't want them to! Because I am such a detailed plotter, my books get written fairly quick and I don't veer off due to – again – major plotting.
What authors inspire you?
Nora Roberts
Lauren Layne
Catherine Bybee
Sandra Brown
Tami Hoag
How do you keep going in the midst of distractions?
By being very very very disciplined. I don't answer social media when I am working; I turn my cell phone to silent. My house phone is still on and my family knows to use it for emergencies. That is the only line I will pickup when I am lost in writing. I write every day from 8-10 hours, and when I am done, then I go ahead and do all the social stuff, answer emails, etc.
What are your hobbies when you need a break from writing?
I love to paint, decoupage, sew an taking long long walks is an absolute must.

Do you write in genres that are not romance related?
