About Nick J. Hart:
The author Nick J. Hart travelled through Southeast Asia, New Zealand and Australia for over a year with the sole purpose of having no plan at all, but to find everything out on the way. Little did he know that he would find so much more than just the next stop or the next way to go.
He found a place where the Australian winter was better than the German summer. A place he didn’t even plan on stopping, but called home for more than five months. And a place he found himself getting attached to a quirky receptionist at the local backpacker hostel. The inspiration for his first novel “And then came you”, where the similarities of their very own (love)story are present, but where the actual storyline is still a work of fiction.
What inspires you to write?
Since I was young I made up stories in my mind while falling asleep. That was basically my "escape" from the real world (and didn't really help to actually fall asleep ;)).
Some of the stories I've started to put it in writing but then never finished.
After travelling through Australia and meeting my girlfriend I had to go back to Germany and didn't know where this would leave us. So I needed something to remind her and me of the little moments we shared (just in case I'll have to win her over one day ;)). So I finally started and finished a book :).
Tell us about your writing process.
I wouldn't really call it a process. At the end of my trip through Australia I was going remote for 10 days. Without wifi or mobile reception. Just me and my thoughts (and a lot of meditation which I wasn't really into). Since I hadn't had a laptop to write things down I was using toilet paper rolls and some sheets I sneaked in. I also repeated the story in my head again and again just to make sure that I wouldn't forget anything. Once out I was then just writing everything down as quickly as I could.
So yeah maybe my process is: Going to bed, making up the story and then getting up to write it all down^^.
How do you develop your characters?
I had a rough idea of how my characters are going to develop but mainly just "found it on the way" which is basically my life motto.
