It’s Halloween weekend, and Sara and her friends decide to go out into the wilderness to stay at Blackthorn Campground. What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
My readers asked me to come up with a scary short story as a lead up to Halloween weekend. I posted a chapter each day for five days straight, leaving the final chapter for a chilling read on Halloween night. The story generated so many positive responses that I decided to upload it as an ebook on Amazon Kindle. The folklore of werewolves inspired me to write a romance story surrounding a character that just so happens to fall in love with a man withholding a terrible secret- a secret that can only be revealed when there is a full moon.
When CIA operative Titus Ray has an unexpected encounter with a Jihadi terrorist while he and Nikki are on their honeymoon in Morocco, he assumes it’s a coincidence, but when they travel to Israel for the second half of their honeymoon, and Titus encounters him again, he contacts his CIA handler. Within days, Titus is on his way to Iraq to prevent the assassination of a high-profile government official. Is the assassin’s target the Iraqi Prime Minister or could the visiting U.S. President be in his crosshairs? Could it be someone else? Could it be Titus?

Would you forsake your mother to save the woman you loved?
Season Scrimshaw isn’t selling the land her parents left her when they died, not even to the gorgeous Rann Brogan who saved her life in the forest. Especially not after she finds out he was in the woods surveying her property.
Rann’s mother, Charlotte, owns a large land development company. She wants Season’s property to put up a strip of luxurious, lakefront condos and Charlotte always gets what she wants. She sends Rann on a mission to seal the deal. To say Rann and his mother have had a normal mother/son relationship would be a stretch…a big stretch, but he’s always done her bidding.
This time it’s different. Rann hasn’t been able to get the beautiful Season out of his mind. While on his mission to secure the property, he realizes how much Season loves the land, and…he realizes somewhere along the line, Season has stolen his heart.
He discovers his mother will go to any length to get what she wants…including murder. Lives spiral out of control, secrets and lies take center stage. Rann is forced to choose between his mother and the woman he loves.
And he’s forced to become as dangerous and as lethal as Charlotte.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
The concept for this book actually started out as a dream. I woke up and the first thing I thought was, I have to write that down! I was in the middle of working on a series of romantic suspense books, but put everything on hold to write this one.
A judge is brutally murdered; a sixteen year-old girl is accused. Josie Bates, an attorney who left her high powered law practice when her skill inadvertently led to the deaths of two small children, cannot turn her back on this one. Reluctantly she takes on a case that will put both their lives on the line and change one of them forever.

About Kayla Krantz:
Proud author of a number of fantasy and thrillers, fascinated by the dark and macabre. Stephen King is her all time inspiration mixed in with a little bit of Eminem. When she began writing, she started in horror but it somehow drifted into thriller. She loves the 1988 movie Heathers. She was born and raised in Michigan but traveled across the country to where she currently resides in Texas.
What inspires you to write?
I draw my inspiration from a number of sources including music, pictures, and dreams. I think the number one way that I gain inspiration is by seeing pictures on various social media accounts. It doesn't really matter what the content of the pictures are. If they're striking enough, my brain tries to create a backstory for them and sometimes that develops into an entire novel.
Tell us about your writing process.
My writing process is actually quite complicated. When I begin a new project, I first write it all down in a spiral college-ruled notebook with a fountain pen. Pen on paper helps me gather my thoughts better than writing on a computer. After I finish my first draft in the notebook, I transfer all the writing to loose-leaf paper that I keep in a binder. After this draft is when I finally type it on the computer and look for things such as plot holes or areas where characters need development.
How do you develop your characters?
My characters almost always have something to say. When I start a story, I try to have an idea of how I want my characters to be, but they end up deciding their own personalities as the plot goes on. At first, it was frustrating, but I'm learning that the characters finding their own way makes my writing better, easier, because I'm not forcing them to sound a way that doesn't work.
Who are your favorite authors?
This is a tough question. I've expanded my reading horizons, and I adore so many authors. I'll give my top six: Stephen King, Lynn Weingarten, Caroline Kepnes, Ruth Ware, Mary Kubica, and Kevin O'Brien.
These authors all have a handful of wonderful books, however, I will single out Lynn Weingarten because her book "Bad Girls with Perfect Faces" is my absolute favorite book. I must've listened to the audio version 100+ times.
What genres do you write?: thriller, psychological, horror, new adult, romance, fantasy, paranormal
What formats are your books in?: eBook, Print, Audiobook
