About Colin Guest:
Colin Guest (1940-2017) Born in England. He became an expat worker in 1983 and in 1988 obtained a contract down on the Turkish Mediterranean Coast. Here he and his late wife had a house built and moved to live there from their home in England. After her death in 2007, Colin later married a Turkish lady and now lives in Istanbul. Colin’s first book, An Expats Experiences of Living in Turkey, covers his living in Turkey for over 30 years. His second Follow in the Tigerman's Footsteps is intended to help readers discover that there is more to life than a tedious 9-5 job. Although a memoir, it reads more like an adventure story, with Colin living a life most only dream. Since then, Colin has had the following books published.

What inspires you to write?
I have always been interested in writing since I was in school. Now that I am retired I have more time to follow my dream.
Tell us about your writing process.
I am a seat of my pants writer, I just think of a story and start to write. I try and portray my characters as near real-life as possible, and research details of locations that I use in my books.
How do you develop your characters?
My characters come alive as I write. I do not base them on real characters.

My name is May J. Panayi and I’m 57. I have been a writer since I was a kid. Okay not anything earth shattering; just a poem in the local paper at age five, then a newsletter to the neighborhood age ten. I hobby wrote poems and short stories throughout my teens and early twenties, then various magazine submissions, and a lot of activity in the underground fanzine scene of the eighties; contributing to others as well as producing my own. What inspires you to write?
I’ve always written, ever since I was a little kid; poems, diaries, magazines, articles, short stories, non fiction and then finally, full length novels. Even when I take time off to travel, I always take a note book so I can write travel blog notes, or other musings. Sometimes I even get story ideas when I’m traveling. My best selling Sun series, was inspired by travel to Greece and finding long lost family in Cyprus.
Tell us about your writing process.
I write the outline of each book in a notebook, then sit and flesh it out on my laptop typing incredibly fast considering I only ever use two fingers. Some things change as the novel progresses, but most of it is already in the outline. For the Sun series, I used a map of the island, with markers where the characters lived, who they are related to, their jobs, cats etc, so I could keep track of everything. I aim to write 2000 words a day, but not every day hits that target, and some days I just need to wander round the house doing mindless cleaning jobs and thinking about the characters; letting them develop in my head.
How do you develop your characters?
Sometimes they are very noisy, like real Greeks, all shouting loudest to be heard, coming forward with sweet food offerings, tempting me into their homes!
Who are your favorite authors?
My favorites are Stephen King, Dean Koontz, J.G. Ballard, Karin Slaughter, Joanne Harris, and recently discovered, Jodi Picoult, who is an amazing writer.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I’ve been a published author for about 15 years now, and during that time I’ve had the opportunity to write in many different romance genres—dark fantasy, historical, paranormal, contemporary, sci fi, futuristic. One thing became obvious very quickly in my career. For better or worse, I wasn’t a one-genre writer. My muse likes to explore and research, so I let her.
My first “cozy mystery paranormal romantic comedy” (say that ten times fast), was in The Happily Everlasting Series project with Mandy M. Roth, Kirsten Painter, and Jana DeLeon. We each wrote a different book in a shared world. In the first book, Fooled Around and Spelled in Love, Aunt Polly quickly became a fan favorite. (You can see her make appearances in Mandy M. Roth’s book in that series.) She started as the loveable, quirky aunt to Fooled Around and Spelled in Love’s heroine, Anna. She runs a tiny, and slightly questionable, magic shop in the back of Anna’s coffee shop.
So why did I write Better Haunts and Garden Gnomes? For Aunt Polly. Readers love her. I love her. She’s too much fun to stop.

Tell us about your writing process.
I can pretty much work anywhere. Not because I’ve wanted to over the years, but because I had to learn to—waiting rooms, parking lots, airports, hotels. I even fished a book in the passenger seat of a car while driving halfway across the country. It wasn’t a fun 10 hours for the driver. Lucky for me, he still married me.
How do you develop your characters?
For characters, I start with their history, names, and personality quirks. Once I know that, I know what kind of adult they are and how they might react to the situations I put them in. Physical attributes are always the last thing I think about.
It's important to know more about the character than will ever be on paper. Stay true to the characters and your world building. If you know them, and respect who/what they are and where the characters come from, the story will unfold for itself.
Who are your favorite authors?
I always have to list Mandy M. Roth’s Immortal Ops series. I read the first one 15 years ago and loved it. We both published our first books together and have been besties almost from the start of our careers. I love getting sneak peeks from her Ops worlds, including the spin off series. It’s like a behind the scenes look each time she writes one.
Another great author include Kristen Painter, who I had the pleasure of working with on The Happily Everlasting Series project. Kristen has the Nocturne Falls series. Jana DeLeon was also on that project. Gena Showalter is an amazing author and human. There are so many, I can't list them all…
